| Magnaloy’s unique
coupling design incorporates a completely enclosed insert which provides wide smooth
machined surfaces for easy/accurate alignment. The outside diameter of each hub is
concentric to the bore within .002 inch and held dimensionally within ±.001 inch. The
models 100 thru 400 have three equally spaced drive lugs, the model 500 has four equally
spaced drive lugs and the models 600 thru 900 have six equally spaced drive lugs to
provide optimum loading of the insert load segments. The following table quantifies these
and other features of the Magnaloy coupling. |

MAGNALOY OPTIONAL FEATURES:
Magnaloy offers many optional features to the
standard coupling. Several of these more popular features are described below. For
additional special configurations, contact the factory.
 Magnaloy
Spline Bored Couplings: Magnaloy Couplings are available with a variety of special
features which includes spline bores. Many splines are available from "in-house"
broaches and additional sizes are available including metric splines.
 Clamp
Feature: Magnaloy's Clamp feature is recommended with all spline bore couplings.
This feature, developed to compensate for minor variations in spline formation methods and
tolerances, assures accurate centering and positive retention of the coupling on its
shaft. The clamp feature is also available with smooth bored and keyed couplings.
 Steel
Bushing Feature: Magnaloy's Steel Bushing feature combines all the design and
lightweight features of the Magnaloy Coupling with the added spline tooth strength and
wear resistance of steel. Under normal conditions the standard spline bored coupling will
perform satisfactorily, but when heavy cyclical loads, reverse loading and high torque
loads exist, spline failures and fretting can be corrected by utilizing Magnaloy's Steel
Brushing option.
