| Installation Guide |
- Coupling selection should be in
accordance with Magnaloy Performance Specifications and adjusted by the appropriate
Service Factor for the application as discussed in the Selection Guide. Check shaft spacing to verify it
is within the range given by dimensions "W" and "X" from Dimensional Specifications Chart
- Position each hub on the proper size shaft - Magnaloy Couplings are
machined to standard "Push fit" tolerances, if a tight fit exists, check shaft
for burrs. Maximum benefits are obtained with the hubs positioned to allow complete shaft
engagement within each bore. However, some equipment designs do not permit this condition
in which case the hubs should be positioned to allow maximum shaft engagement.

- Alignment - the equipment should be positioned so the coupling is
within the recommended alignment conditions of 1° angular and .015 inch parallel. Perfect
alignment can be obtained if a .005 inch feeler gauge will not fit beneath a straight edge
placed across the large diameters at the top and side of the hubs.
- Secure the equipment mounts and recheck alignment for movement.
- Install the insert in the coupling positioning the hubs in light
contact with the lip around the outside of the insert.
- Before tightening set-screws, run the coupling and check for
separation of the hubs. Recheck alignment and tighten set screws. When installing
Magnaloy's Steel Brushed coupling, the clamp bolt must be tightened prior to tightening
the keyway set-screw.
